There are not many things better than hot cocoa and fresh chocolate chip cookies on a winter day. Well, I do think I could enjoy them even when it is above zero, maybe even above freezing! So I guess we'll just keep trying to stay warm, stop sharing our germs, and look forward to summer. Bring on the cookies!

Cold, Colds and Cookies
I often wonder why, considering all of the different climate possibilities in the US, did we pick one of the coldest states to call home? After the past few weeks, any place south is looking pretty nice right about now (I think I just heard my mom say "AMEN!"). Below zero temps are just no fun, and I know there are some of those crazy Minnesotans who will say how much they love winter and wind chills, and there is nothing like playing broomball outside on a frozen lake when it is -20. I have heard the statement, "If it is going to be cold, might as well be really cold, ya know?" one too many times the past few weeks. Well, I don't think I will be changing my opinion anytime soon, being this cold stinks. It forces you to stay inside, to keep your kids inside, and when everyone is inside, what do we do? We share things, like colds or the flu. In the past few weeks every member of the O'Rourke household has had the stomach flu, at least one cold, and Luke and Ava have had terrible coughs. It is time to be healthy for a change! A few days ago, Ava and I made chocolate chip cookies to cheer every one up.
