A couple of weeks ago Andy decided it was time to make the investment and buy a plastic swimming pool for Luke and Ava. We have had hours of fun in our little fifteen dollar investment. We have a little slide that we put in it, and the kids love our "water park."

Luke's idea of a good time is swimming in the pool, and then going and playing in the dirt to see how muddy he can get. Today was particularly bad.

What can I say? The little farmer loves dirt.

We are heading out on Sunday for the big excursion to New Jersey. I am busy figuring out snacks, movies, and whatever I can think of to keep a 2 year old occupied in the car for hours on end. Any suggestions? I scored a sweet deal on a dual screen dvd player for the van, I know it is going to be a big hit! A few things we are looking forward to (other than seeing the Causey fam, obviously) are a trip to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, hanging at the beach and swimming in the ocean, and of course Rookfest! I personally feel that the Air Force (Sara & Lauri) is going to win this battle. (We are having a military theme this year, naturally!) I will definitely post pictures of all of the winners and losers.
A little bit about Vail, Andy and I had a great 4 days at a pastor's and wives' retreat with the Acts29 church planting network that our church belongs to. We lounged by the pool at the beautiful resort we were at, took a great hike (where the pictures were from) and ate way too much. The food at the resort was incredible. We were able to spend time with friends from Minnesota, as well as friends from Iowa State that we haven't seen for 10 years! We really enjoyed reconnecting with them.

It was nice and sunny during our days in Colorado, but still got quite cold at night, down into the 30s and 40s. One of the resort workers told us they had just stopped skiing a couple of weeks before we were there. There was still quite a bit of snow on the peaks of the mountains, and the die hards were still hiking up and skiing down as far as they could go. Apparently the goal is to ski on the 4th of July, just to say you have done it. It is a different world.
Happy 4th of July weekend to everyone! We'll fill you in on our trip when we get back!
