THE Project
As I have mentioned in previous posts, we are in the middle of renovating our basement. What started as "let's update" has turned into putting in a new fireplace, and adding a second bathroom. Then my washing machine decided its time with our family was done, and I had to get a new washer, so why not move the laundry as well? Yes, why not. Not that I am ungrateful to have all of these wonderful things happen to our home, but it is time for the project to be finished. As all of you remodelers out there know, remodeling one room (or in this case a whole floor) affects the whole house. Here is the family room before:
And the almost finished. Carpet is coming in the next week or so, and eventually different furniture.
We have been ready for carpet for quite some time now, but put it off because of this...
Yep, we decided to put a second bathroom in the laundry room. I came home last week from work on Monday to have Andy meet me in the kitchen with a strange look on his face. He said "Just don't go downstairs. It will stress you out." And then I heard the jackhammer. And he was right. These pictures are even after they had filled the holes in somewhat. When I looked the first time, I was afraid if Luke were to wander down and fall into one of the holes he could potentially end up under the street. They were that deep. And oh, the dirt and the dust. But they got all of the pipes moves, re-poured the cement, and things are looking a little better
And the best part so far has been this:
After not having a washer and dryer for two weeks, the piles of laundry were making me start to question my sanity. The washer and dryer were installed this morning. And they are still running. And might run for most of the day tomorrow. We are all looking forward to clean underwear. Just kidding, but we were getting low! What we are looking forward to is having this project done. And we are getting closer. Final pictures to be posted soon! On to folding more laundry...
