Aaargh, matey!

We had a wonderful weekend with the Abrams hanging with the cousins, carving pumpkins, eating way too much (thanks Barb, for the wonderful meals!), playing a little Rook (of course), and doing a little trick-or-treating. Andy and Uncle Scott helped the kids carve a few pumpkins, and I have to say they turned out really great. Barb has better pictures of the finished product, I am assuming she will have them on her blog in the near future, if you are interested. After the pumpkin carving extravaganza, the kids put on their costumes and we headed out trick-or-treating. Barb and Scott really have a great place to go. They live on a dead end road and are one of 2 families with kids, so all of their neighbors love to have the kids come trick-or-treating. So we hit up about 8 houses, get way more candy than any child needs (because they are the only trick-or-treaters, we get LOTS of candy at each house!). It is also perfect, because the end of October might as well be winter in Minnesota, so after 8 houses, we are freezing and ready to be done. As I mentioned in the previous post, Ava wanted to be a yellow flower, and Luke a mean pirate (not a nice one, mind you). My nephew Jake was a Transformer, and my niece Maggie was a jaguar. A fine looking bunch!One of the best parts of trick-or-treating was going up to one house and Luke shouting "Do you have candy?" The sweet older lady gave him a bag of pretzels and he handed them back, saying very matter of factly, "I don't like these." Then he glared at her when she told him she didn't have anything else. Mean pirate indeed.
