*Grandma and Grandpa O'Rourke came to visit! We loved having Andy's parents come for a weekend visit. We played, planted flowers, visited and enjoyed being together. Andy put his dad to work in our basement as we are starting a little renovation project down there this summer. We also had all of the family (Rob, Rosie & Will, and Ben) over for dinner and a bonfire Saturday night. Good times and great smores!
*As mentioned previously we are renovating the basement. New fireplace is getting installed this week. Next up, ripping up the carpet, painting, new flooring. I will not be sad to see the carpet go. Not even a little.
*We got the garden in. Looking forward to fresh veggies in a month or so!
*We went up to Alexandria for a couple of days so Andy could get his fishing fix in. High winds and cold water makes for crummy fishing. Bummer. The kids loved being in the boat, however.
*Wrapping up some premarital counseling with 2 couples from church, both getting married on the 29th. Andy is performing one ceremony here in the cities and Sara and the kids are heading down to Iowa for the other ceremony as Ava and Luke are the flowergirl and ringbearer. Sounds like an adventure. Hopefully there will be no bubble machine.
*Our small group from church went to Feed My Starving Children to volunteer for an evening, and Ava got to come. She was so excited and did a great job! She helped to weigh the bags of food we packaged.
We have also been keeping busy with the usual, church, preschool, swimming, and now yardwork. No complaints there, I love summer. Ava asked me the other day when it will be winter again because she really wants Daddy to build another snow fort in the backyard. Hush, child. We will not speak of winter for at least 2 months. That is all the summer we get. Or so it feels like.
