An Obituary

Rosetta O'Rourke, beloved dwarf hamster of Ava and Luke O'Rourke, passed away sometime between October 19 and October 21 of unknown causes. Her age was unknown. She is survived by owners Ava O'Rourke and Luke O'Rourke, and caretakers Andy and Sara O'Rourke (who apparently were not such great caretakers). She will be remembered for her funny personality and constant running on her squeaky wheel. A brief memorial service was held Saturday morning, October 22, 2011, in the O'Rourke backyard. Favorite memories of Rosetta were shared by those in attendance. Luke's favorite memory was the time he almost killed Rosetta by shutting the playroom door on her. Ava's favorite memory was cuddling her and feeling how soft she was. Ava also said Rosetta will be remembered as her favorite first pet ever. Tears were shed. Internment was at the base of Ava's favorite tree in the "forest" in the O'Rourke backyard. Rest well Rosetta. You will be missed.

PS. Upon the news of Rosetta's death, Luke immediately asked if we could get a cat. And as we were walking away from the burial, Ava asked if we could get a dog. Yes, parting is such sweet sorrow.

Just another day in the life of the O'Rourke family. I don't mean to be cold, but this CRACKS ME UP!

I agree, it is touching but yet really funny. Reminds me of a certain Cosby Show episode with a dead goldfish, Lamont. Your kids are adorable!
