Thursdays

Thursdays are long days. They are really long for Andy as he leaves in the morning at the usual time to head out to appointments or the office and then teaches a theology class at our church from 7-10 pm. He usually doesn't come home in between work and class, but stays at the office to prep for teaching. Which means Thursdays are officially mommy days (really every day is mostly, but daddy coming home after work is a big event). We wear sweats and don't leave the house. We play REALLY hard, and I am usually exhausted by 5:00. We have snacks and color and play with play-dough. We read books until I am hoarse (Dr. Suess is becoming a favorite). We play chase and build forts. And then I spend an hour after the kids crash putting the house back into some kind of order. Thursdays are great! Today was especially nice as a friend came over and brought coffee (Starbucks mocha, the best!) and we hung out for a while. I usually don't have adult conversation on Thursdays, so this was a treat. She even sat at the table and played play-dough with Ava and I. What a gal! I have to say even though Thursdays get to be long, I have to remind myself of the honor I have being able to stay home with my kids. Not every one is as blessed as I am to be able to do this. How could you not love staying home with these two cuties all day!!

That sounds like quite the girl, to bring you coffee and play with your kids. If only everyone was so lucky! :)
