They next day it was Luke's turn to go to the doctor for his 18 month check. He did great too, didn't even cry when he got his shots (tough guy), but unfortunately had lost weight again! Which isn't surprising if you have spent anytime around the kid, he never sits still. And he is still not the best eater in the world. When I was filling Andy in about the check up and told him Luke still doesn't even weigh 23 lbs, Andy said we need to be careful about using the "r" word around him. I was like "r" word? Turns out the "r" word is runt. But he is an awfully cute runt!

Dentists, doctors and the "r" word
We have been busy getting through our annual check-ups. This year was Ava's first trip to the dentist, and I am pleased to say she passed her first exam with flying colors! As she was sitting in chair, the hygienist was showing her all of the tools, including the one used to clean your teeth with the nasty gritty paste, and I am thinking to myself, this is never going to fly. We had practiced counting teeth at home, but I had no idea they would actually try and clean with all of the noisy tools and scrapers. Kind of intimidating for a 3 year old. But Ava sat with mouth wide open while they cleaned, examined and even flossed (!?!) her teeth. I was so proud of her! So I did what every dentist would recommend doing after a dental appointment for a reward, I took her out for some ice cream!
Kind of cracked me up that they offered her sunglasses, and she accepted them!
