Tree time

Time to dust off the Christmas decorations and put up the tree! I'll be the first one to admit I am a bit of a scrooge when it comes to Christmas trees, they are just so darn messy! And yes, I am aware they make perfectly lovely artificial trees, but someone who shall remain nameless in the O'Rourke house insists it must be real (that would not be me, and Luke and Ava don't care). In years past I have always had a great excuse to not have a tree, such as: I am hugely pregnant, our house is on the market, I have a crawling baby, I will not spend the next 4 weeks keeping Luke away from the tree. Technically, I still think the last excuse could still apply, but this year I was overruled. So Sunday we set out to find the perfect tree. We brought along the trusty hack saw, cut down the tree and brought it home. I have to say, we did have fun decorating with the kids! For some reason, I did not get a picture of the fully finished product. We are missing the ribbon on the top and the tree skirt in this picture but you get the idea. And for the record, I am vacuuming needles twice a day and Luke has already shattered one ornament by hitting it with the fireplace poker. Nice. Christmas is how many days away?

Andy, I'm willing to make a bet with you regarding how many times the words "I told you so" are going to come out of Sara's mouth in the next month. Quickly followed by "you're cleaning that up." Ah, the holidays. :)

Dan & I have the fake or real tree "discussion" every year. We even went yesterday to find one but when he stopped and asked about pricing at a local vendor, the cheapest one on the lot was $80! Needless to say, I won again this year :-)

Andy --
It must feel good to finally be wearing some pants. Keep them on. Christmas is not Christmas without baby Jesus and a fresh Fraser Fir. Play Settlers but never settle.
