I love unders!

If you are a mom that has experienced the joy of potty training, you can relate. I love seeing little underwear in the laundry. Luke's third birthday was yesterday, and he gave US a present. He decided he wanted to start going potty on the toilet. We were a little leary, because we weren't quite sure if he can control it, and we never catch him soon enough in the morning to see if he is dry when we wakes up. But we have been pleasantly surprised. And holding our breath. It has seemed a little too easy. Two days, no accidents, lots of rewards of chocolate chips, woke up dry this morning, and we even ventured out to the community center for an hour with unders on, and were successful. Yikes! Isn't he just the cutest in his little unders?
I bought the smallest size available (Thomas the train, of course) and they are still a bit roomy. I just couldn't resist posting this next picture. I think it is hilarious.Makes me giggle every time I look at it. What a little poser!
To catch you up on the rest of life (since I haven't posted since Christmas!)...
We had a great time with Andy's family the weekend after Christmas. Everyone made the trip to our house, and we had fun opening presents with the kids, eating way too much, visiting, and watching a little football. It was fun to just be together. We headed up to Alexandria to spend New Year's with my parents, and also got to spend time with some good friends. We learned a new game called hand and foot, and played it a bit obsessively. What, Nieuwendorps obsessing over cards? Never! And this past week it has been back to the daily grind, with a few extra things added in. Ava started swimming lessons this past week, which she loves. I am doing a few year end things for the church. Luke turned 3 on the 7th, so we celebrated with his favorite meal (ham balls, scalloped corn, and cinnamon baked apples) at his request. We even offered him cheese pizza and he declined, and asked for ham balls. He also requested a cake from Sam's Club, which I admit offended me a little bit. Making birthday cakes is something I enjoy, and we have a tradition of making different cut up cakes into the shapes of animals, cars, or whatever. But the kids love looking at the cake display at Sam's and asked if that is what their birthday cake could be this year. How can I compete with Elmo and Disney Princesses?
Hope you are having a wonderful 2010!

Oh Luke! What a cutie. Hope the underwear stays dry for your sake :)

AND just have to tell you: Hand and foot is Brent's FAVORITE card game. His family plays it a lot. I like it, but it takes FOREVER. I'm a bit more into the speedy games such as Nertz :)
