A Fun Weekend

We just got back from spending the weekend back in Alexandria, near where we used to live. We had a great time seeing old friends and spending time with Sara's parents. Here are a few of the highlights!

We took Luke to get his first haircut! It is now officially tradition that Mary Jane Skurat gets to cut the O'Rourke kids hair for the first time. Mary Jane and her family are dear friends of ours and all of us have spent time in her shop getting our hair cut. I was very impressed with how good Luke was! I had visions of him not wanting to sit still and climbing all over the place. But I came prepared with Grandma and chocolate chips and he did great! Just a little trim, and not to worry, the curls are still there and still abundant!

And of course Ava had to get in on the action too. She and Mary Jane are special friends, so she got to have her hair done like a princess (that is what she called it). Ava used to go in to the shop with Mary Jane every now and then when we lived in Villard, and had a blast every time. We miss living so close!

Andy managed to squeeze some fishing in as this past weekend was walleye opener. Despite rain and 40 degree weather, he and my brother went out at 6 am Saturday morning. I am pleased to say that Andy had his limit by noon, and Dan, well, let's just say he caught a few. Sorry Dan! It was enough to have fresh walleye for lunch on Sunday.
And last but not least, it must be mentioned that we had the opportunity to celebrate with our dear friend Eric Westberg as he turned 40 on Saturday! Jenifer's birthday was a few days before, and we were able to spend a little time with them over the weekend as well. It was a great time, and we won't mention names, but someone can still play a pretty mean game of Texas Hold Em! (OK, I can! :) Unfortunately, there are no pictures to document this event, but there were a few witnesses.

Finally, it was a great mother's day! Andy let me sleep in a little, got me flowers, and then made me and mom fry fish. Really, it was mostly mom that fried the fish, but I got to help clean up. Ava and Luke gave us a little concert while we were cleaning up, though, so it wasn't so bad!
Happy belated mother's day to all of you moms out there. I hope your weekend was as special as mine was.

Luke's hair curled even more with the cut, he is as adorable as ever!
Ava always looks like a princess to me!
It was great to see you guys-you didn't mention anything about Andy's pinball playing however!!
