Here kitty, kitty

Ah, springtime. Warmer weather, new leaves, and if you have ever lived on a farm, a litter of kittens. There is just something about kittens, isn't there? They are so cute and cuddly and playful. The only bad thing about them, in my opinion, is that they grow up to be cats. I admit it, I am not a cat lover. I don't dislike them, I am just not fond of them. My niece Hannah's cat had kittens a couple of weeks ago, and we have had the chance to see them a few times. Ava and Luke absolutely love them! I have never seen Luke get so worked up about anything like he does these kittens. He squeals and dances around until he gets to hold one and then either nearly smothers or squeezes it to death. He doesn't quite get the whole gentleness thing yet.

It is kind of hard to tell in this picture, but somehow Luke always manages to pick the kittens up upside down, so their hind end is by his face. He doesn't seem to mind, and hugs away!

Ava gets to keep a kitten at Aunt Lauri's house. This is the one she picked. Again, hard to see, but it is a long haired, black female. She decided to name it Jasmine (Disney princess obsession!). I have to admit, she is awfully cute!

This is Luke with the incredibly tolerant mamma cat Tessie. She is just loving his attention, can't you tell!

This morning we took a quick trip up to Aunt Lauri's house to see the kittens, and it was a good thing we did! When we got there, one of the kittens was trapped in the floor drain in the garage and I had to cut open the drain to get it out. It must have crawled in from outside the garage and couldn't find its way out. So Ava and I got to save the kitten's life (see, I am not that bad of a person after all!). It was quite an adventure, and Ava was pretty relieved! You'll have to ask her to imitate the kitten when it was stuck in the drain. It's pretty great! Here kitty, kitty...

LOVED the pictures! Thanks for saving the kitty's life - not the first one, if I remember correctly!
Miss you all - love, Mom
